Ray Bassett has a BA Philosophy/English Literature from Trinity College, University of Toronto. In 1984, he joined United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company (USF&G), which became became Aviva. He led the surety claim group at Aviva, and then moved to the underwriting side. Since 2007, Ray has been a member of a senior team within Travelers Insurance Company, managing the construction surety practice.
Ray’s industry involvement is as director and executive committee member of the Canadian Construction Association (CCA). He is also chair of CCA Manufacturers, Suppliers & Services Council, member of Ontario’s Construction Lien Act Review advisory group, and member of the Canadian Accounting Standards Board’s (AcSB’s) Joint Transition Resource Support Group for Revenue Recognition.
